Climate Change Action! is the International Union of Architects’ call to action for World Architecture Day 2017.
The threat of climate change is real. Rapid urbanization and building developments are increasing our fuel energy consumption and greenhouse gas emission. As the range of global challenges grows and intensifies, the role of architecture, planning and design are becoming ever more critical to ensuring a better future for all people. Architecture has an enormous power to cope with climate change, and to foster communities that are strong, safe, equitable, productive and affordable.
Architecture plays an essential role in alleviating human suffering, reducing planetary burdens, and enhancing the quality of life.
All of us interact with our built environment constantly but are we aware of its far-reaching effects? Understanding how architecture impacts our lives it critical to achieving the best solutions. Once again this year, Members of Provincial Parliament submitted their favourite buildings in their ridings.
